Lake Erie College Welcomes Daniel 'Rudy' Ruettiger

Lake Erie College issued the following news release:
Lake Erie College is pleased to welcome University of Notre Dame's most famous alumnus, Daniel 'Rudy' Ruettiger as part of the College's Founders Day celebration. Join us Thursday, November 4 at 2 p.m. for an afternoon of inspiration and motivation. The event is free, open to the public and will be held in the Morley Music Building.
As a member of the Notre Dame University Fighting Irish football team, Rudy defined both his personal history and collegiate sports in a mere 27 seconds when he sacked the quarterback in the only play of his college football career, while an exuberant audience chanted the now famous line RU-DY, RU-DY, RU-DY! Rudy's historic moment culminated his unwavering determination to play college football for the Fighting Irish despite years of criticism, objections and obstacles.
Today, his message of "Yes I Can" is delivered to schools, corporations and widely-recognized leaders including President George Bush, General Colin Powell and Zig Ziglar. Speaker, author and philanthropist, Rudy has established the Rudy Foundation whose mission is to positively affect the lives of children cognitively, emotionally, physically and spiritually. The Rudy Award Program was created by the Rudy Ruettiger Foundation to recognize children who make an outstanding exceptional effort to do their personal best every day, overcome obstacles, set goals, stay on track to reach their dreams and build the qualities of character, courage, contribution and commitment into their lives every day.
