CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) Josh Rosen said he's at his best when he's playing loose and having fun.
''Everyone is getting hyped up before the game and listening to some bumping rap music and stuff, and I'm in the corner of the locker room just chilling out and keeping my heart rate down,'' he said.
The laid-back freshman helped No. 22 UCLA keep alive its Pac-12 title hopes Saturday, throwing two touchdown passes to Thomas Duarte in a 41-0 victory over Oregon State 41-0 in cold, rainy conditions.
Rosen was 22 for 33 for 333 yards before sitting out the fourth quarter. The Bruins (7-2, 4-2) had 676 yards against the Beavers (2-7, 0-6).
UCLA limited Oregon State to 246 yards and forced four turnovers against redshirt freshman quarterback Nick Mitchell. It was the Bruins' first shutout since 2007 against Oregon and their first on the road since 1987 versus Stanford.
The Beavers are rebuilding under first-year coach Gary Andersen and remain the only winless team in conference play.
''On offense, we had basically nothing that was effective,'' Anderson said. ''I don't think we can sit back and say one thing about a quarterback, one thing about any position group.''
The Bruins have won three straight after consecutive losses to Arizona State and Stanford. Rosen has 18 touchdown passes and only seven interceptions this season. He has 133 attempts without an interception since the Stanford game Oct. 15.
Rosen said the rain didn't bother him, partly because the Bruins' staff did a good job of keeping the game balls dry.
''Some of the tougher throws were the quick hitters, where you have to grab it without the laces, but when I got to drop back and really grip the ball, it was fine,'' he said.
Rosen said he isn't watching the conference standings and is keeping his approach the same no matter who the Bruins face. ''I just want to go out and win every game I play,'' he said.
The Bruins capitalized on turnovers to score 24 points in the second quarter.
''We got a little momentum,'' UCLA coach Jim Mora said.
Oregon State had a drive going late in the first quarter, but Mitchell fumbled at the UCLA 34 and the Bruins recovered. UCLA's drive stalled, and Ka'imi Fairbarn had a 38-yard field goal to open the scoring.
On Oregon State's next possession, Randall Goforth picked off Mitchell's pass at the Beavers 42. Rosen threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Duarte, capping a seven-play drive.
Later in the half, Rosen showed off his arm on a 63-yard pass to Kenneth Walker. A few plays later, the Bruins capped a 96-yard drive with another touchdown pass to Duarte.
Mitchell threw his second interception on Oregon State's subsequent drive, leading to Paul Perkins' touchdown run that made it 24-0.
UCLA got the ball to open the second half and scored on Nate Starks's 11-yard run. Fairbairn made another field goal, and Sos Jamabo added a 30-yard touchdown run at the end of the third quarter.
Mitchell was 9 for 19 for 84 yards before being pulled in the fourth quarter in his second start.
