Jacksonville State outlasts Coastal Carolina 27-26

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) Eli Jenkins passed for 248 yards and two touchdowns, rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown, and Jacksonville State held on for a 27-26 win over Coastal Carolina on Saturday.

Jenkins' third touchdown, a 14-yard run with 6:44 left in the fourth quarter, capped an 11-play, 87-yard drive and put the Gamecocks (2-1) in front 27-26 after Coastal Carolina had scored back-to-back touchdowns.

De'Angelo Henderson scored for the 29th straight game as his 4-yard run pulled Coastal Carolina (2-1) within two at 20-18 midway through the third and extended his NCAA D-I record. The Chanticleers took the lead when Tyler Keane found Laquay Brown for a 9-yard score early in the fourth.

Ryan Granger's 51-yard field goal attempt for Coastal Carolina came up short with 2:27 left to play.

Demontez Terry, who came into the game with one career catch, caught each of Jenkins' touchdown passes. They went for 44 and 40 yards.
