Huskers' Armstrong heads back to Mississippi to work on reads with Favre

The relationship continues to grow between Nebraska quarterback Tommy Armstrong and Brett Favre. The two became connected as Armstrong's family is from Mississippi and his dad is friends with the Packers legend.

Last offseason the two worked together and it looks like Armstrong is back for more per the Omaha World Herald. Armstrong most needs to work on his pre and post snap reads and it sounds like that will be the focus of his time with Brett:

"While it was stressed under previous offensive coordinator Tim Beck, Armstrong and his predecessor, Taylor Martinez, struggled to progress to shorter safety-valve passes to backs or lay off the deep pass when it wasn’t there. Nebraska’s offense, in the last half-decade, had a boom-or-bust quality to it, riches or rags. It was a snowball perched at the peak of a mountain that could either roll over the defense, or back on the Huskers. NU needs to find an efficient middle ground — part of what Riley’s expertise and seasoning need to deliver — sooner rather than later, preferably."

Favre has also told Armstrong to become a film rat and that seems to be working as new head coach Mike Riley has noted how hard he works off the field to get better. Time will tell if Tommy can elevate his game to a new level.
