Harbaugh: Rudock Michigan's best QB 'not by a small margin'

Michigan football fans wondering if Jake Rudock might be at risk of losing his starting quarterback job to Shane Morris got their answer Monday from coach Jim Harbaugh.

“To be clear, Jake Rudock’s the best quarterback -- not by a small margin," Harbaugh told reporters in Ann Arbor on Monday. "He’s our best quarterback, and when it comes to precision of the passing game and timing, that’s something that we’re all working together at, and it’s the responsibility of everyone. I feel it’s divisive when you just pull out one name to just keep hammering; there, there, so hope that’s clear. He’s our best quarterback.”

After arriving during summer as a graduate transfer from Iowa, Rudock emerged from a preseason competition ahead of Morris, who was the No. 1 quarterback coming out of spring practice.

Rudock threw three interceptions in the season-opening loss at Utah and has underwhelmed since.

Through three games, he is 10th in the Big Ten in passing yards with 582 and 10th in pass efficiency.

He has thrown five interceptions, tied with Caleb Rowe of Maryland for the most among the players in the top 10 in the league in efficiency.
