Golson, Maguire split reps in scrimmage
Those hoping to find out who is in the lead for Florida State’s starting quarterback job after Friday’s scrimmage were deeply disappointed as Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher kept that stats from the exhibition on lockdown.
Fisher did say that both Sean Maguire and Everett Golson led their units on scoring drives and that both players are splitting reps equally.
“We’re right where we want to be,” Fisher told the Palm Beach Post. “Both got a lot of work to do, but are doing a lot of good things, too. … I’ll evaluate the film and wait and see.”
The scrimmage was the first time Fisher got to see Golson perform in a game-like situation up close and personal and said that he was not surprised by what he saw.
“You’ve got to take it to the field and then all these little things happen that you can’t coach,” Fisher told the Palm Beach Post. “That 10-15 percent of gray area, and then see how they react to that. … He’s had his good and bad, which is what I expected.”
