FSU's Walker on Florida fans: 'They talk so much crap on Twitter'
They don’t call it Rivalry Week for nothing. On Saturday, No. 14 Florida State (9-2) will play at No. 8 Florida (10-1) and Seminoles defensive end DeMarcus Walker proved long-term memory is not an issue for him.
The FSU junior said he’s made note of all the trash talk Gators fans have done this season. That includes remarks made by presidential hopeful Marco Rubio, who took a jab at Florida State while on an Iowa radio station earlier this year.
“They talk so much crap on Twitter and now it’s time for them to watch us do work, especially the one running for president who talked crap,” Walker said.
The 6-3, 277-pound Walker, who leads FSU with eight sacks, no doubt harbors hatred for the Hurricanes, but told Tomahawk Nation he has a special disdain reserved for the Gators.
"As far as history, we've got a couple of alumni back home [Jacksonville], they can deal with Miami, but they still hate Florida,” Walker said. “You can play the Miami fight song in the locker room, and it's probably okay. But if you play that 'Go Gators'-- you're getting annihilated."
Saturday’s contest marks the first time these two teams have met since 2012 and will be the third time they have battled as top-15 opponents since 2001.
“They're 10-1, we're 9-2. That's the way Florida-Florida State should be,” Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said.
