FSU football will take on NC State Saturday night in Raleigh, NC, where the ‘Noles have struggled to win at times. Has NC State coach Dave Doeren lost their fan base?
I don’t know too many FSU Football people who are Dave Doeren fans. In fact, I can’t think of many people in general that like him.
Actually, NC State fans don’t like him and want him fired after losing three straight games. The last being against Boston College at home as 15.5 point betting favorites.
Normally this would be a bad spot for FSU football, having to travel to Raleigh to play a night game. However, it seems NC State fans have finally grown impatient with the direction or lack thereof from Dave Doeren over the past few years.
What NC State Fans Are Saying
The Fire Doeren light is officially lit!
He needs to go now. Make Drink the interim HC and go from there…
If this does not happen I think a “Fire Yow” thread would be appropriate.
Something needs to change all the way down from the AD’s office IMO. State simply doesn’t seem to care that much about winning in football. We simply want to do it the “right” way and not even take a hands at running afowl of the NCAA. If we want to win, we need to find that mean, nasty SOB of a coach that wants to win almost at all costs and push the limits of the NCAA rules. UNC hasn’t gotten punished for their many transgressions. What not try their model.
I support his termination by end of business Monday. That’s not going to happen though. AD office has already stated as much in emails people are posting on PackPride.
If what Matt says is true (And I believe it is), NC State athletics better be prepared to lose money, because your football coach has insulted fans and pointed fingers at players and everyone but himself. That being said, Dave’s days as head coach are numbered.
I support the termination. The program is his and he has nothing to show for it. Yow has been in the business too long. She has no excuse for hiring a coach with only 2 years of head coaching experience. NC State deserves someone who has been where we want this program to go. Apparently Yow didn’t think so, which is why she should go too.

Doeren Is Busch League
It’s true. I’ll never forget the 2014 game when FSU was at NC State and Doeren accused FSU of faking injuries.
NC State jumped out to a huge first quarter league, but Jameis Winston and company roared back in the second half to beat the brakes off NC State.
However, in the second half NC State tried to up tempo and was having some mild success and a FSU player stayed down after a play because he was injured.
“The tempo we had was working until all the crazy fall-down things were going on and the clock kept stopping,” Doeren said after the game. “You know the refs can’t do anything about that, but it’s horrible the way the tempo gets slowed down by these injuries. We went fast in the first quarter; I guess there were no fake injuries.”
Doeren apologized in a statement the next day, but who says that kind of stuff? How about the comments he made last week regarding Clemson running back Wayne Gallman?
Gallman was knocked out of their game with NC State by a questionable hit. He suffered a concussion, yet Doeren made comments that implied it was good that Gallman was knocked out of the game with a concussion.

My Thoughts
I would like nothing better than to go to Raleigh and give NC State a beatdown of epic proportions. You know, like the 2013 game when it was 42-0 at halftime, but Doeren was happy because they “won the second half” against FSU’s second team players.
NC State is currently at 4-4 with the following games left:
They need to find two, maybe three wins out of that to become bowl eligible as two of their wins have come against FCS competition.
Regardless of the results, I think it’s unlikely NC State will fire him simply because of the buyout on his contract and the money they have recently spent in renovations.
Plus, athletic director Debbie Yow will be retiring in a couple of years, so what coach would want to take the NC State job under those circumstances?
Sorry NC State fans, it looks like you’re stuck in mediocrity.
