Four-star WR Tre Nixon commits to Ole Miss

One of the nation's top recruiting classes got better Monday, as elite receiver prospect Tre Nixon committed to Ole Miss over Georgia and Auburn. Nixon is coming off his official visit in Oxford and becomes the 21st prospect to commit to the Rebels.

Rated as a four-star prospect and a top 200 player nationally by 247Sports, Nixon had over 45 scholarship offers from many of the nation's elite football schools.

Nixon's high school coach recently talked him up to Scout, as it sounds like Ole Miss has landed one of the better all-around prospects in the 2016 recruiting cycle:

“As far as an offensive player, he one of the best, or pure offensive players as far as skill level. He is a whole-package type kid,” Viera coach Kevin Mays said. “He's the best I've been around. He's a great young man, good in the classroom. He has a 3.5, 3.6 gpa. As far as what you ask for, he's got it all. He's the type kid that you wish every kid would be like. Obviously his talent sticks out, but he's a hard worker. All year he helped my younger receivers get better. He's not a selfish kid by any means. He's a great young man.”.

With just over a week remaining until National Signing Day, Nixon's pledge will only continue to push the Ole Miss class toward the nation's top 2016 recruiting class.

While the Rebels have lost All-SEC junior receiver Laquon Treadwell to the 2016 NFL Draft, a number of elite receivers do return next season. Nixon's name may not be one to make a major impact in the upcoming season but will be one to watch for in seasons to come under head coach Hugh Freeze.
