Former Spartan Lippett impressing early in Dolphins offseason practices
For a guy who had his greatest success in college at wide receiver, Tony Lippett seems to be taking to cornerback quickly in Miami.
FOX Sports Florida reports the former Michigan State standout had three interceptions in a practice earlier this week, and Dolphins coach Joe Philbin had good things to say about him.
"As you guys know he doesn't have a ton of position experience there in games but he seems to be a guy that's learned the system pretty well," said Philbin of Lippett. "Every rep that he gets is extremely valuable at this stage of his development. So it was good to see him. I caught a couple of them."
However, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports Lippett could have a hard time making the team as five veterans cornerbacks appear to have a solid grasp on roster spots and there might be room for only one more player at that position.
