Florida State's Fisher expects Tate, Thomas to play Saturday

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 10:34 p.m. ET

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher says he expects starting wide receiver Auden Tate and linebacker Matthew Thomas to play Saturday against Wake Forest.

Both players were injured last week in a loss to North Carolina State but Fisher said Thursday that they returned to practice Tuesday.

Tate has an AC joint separation in his left shoulder. The junior has 11 receptions for 125 yards and has accounted for both Seminoles' touchdowns in their first two games.

Thomas, a senior, led the defense with 10 tackles in the Sept. 2 opener against Alabama.

Florida State, which is 0-2 for the first time since 1989, travels to Wake Forest (4-0, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) on Saturday. FSU is 0-1 in league play for the second straight season.
