Oregon running back De'Anthony Thomas appeared to hurt his lower right leg returning the opening kickoff against California on Saturday night.
Thomas grasped his lower leg before he was helped off the field. Later he was seen on the sidelines without his helmet.
The speedy junior, who runs on the track team, leads the second-ranked Ducks with 338 yards rushing and six touchdowns. He has 485 all-purpose yards through Oregon's first three games.
Last season he ran for 701 yards and 11 touchdowns and caught 45 passes for 445 yards and five more scores. He scored on a kickoff return and a punt return. He was the first Oregon player in 47 years with a touchdown four different ways.
