Dormady and Jennings latest freshmen to have stripes removed

Monday saw two more freshmen take the next step in their college careers as newly minted backup quarterback Quinten Dormady and quarterback prospect turned wide receiver Juaun Jennings both had their stripes removed by Butch Jones following the team's latest practice.

The two freshmen are linked in a unique way, as Dormady's quick ascension to become the clear-cut backup quarterback quickly in camp facilitated Jennings' move to receiver. Tennessee offensive coordinator Mike DeBord had these comments for his backup quarterback following practice.

"He's smart," DeBord. "He's picked up a lot of things, he worked hard this summer, and he's had a really good training camp. I think he would tell you too that Josh Dobbs' leadership has helped him through that process."

As for Jennings, his ability to make explosive plays with the ball in his hands had the Tennessee coaching staff quickly realize his biggest contribution to the team this season would be in the slot. Standing 6-foot-3 and 200-pounds, Jennings should make for an imposing threat when matched up against any nickel corner that will line up against him this fall.

While still very much a work in progress, Jennings has shown tremendous skill for attacking the ball in the air and has most assuredly earned playing time for a Tennessee team that's already six-deep at receiver.

The potential future of Tennessee's offense may have just earned their place on the team on the very same day. Could this be the beginning of a potential lethal connection that lasts for years on Ole Rocky Top?
