Dismissed FSU LB finds a new home
Linebacker Ukeme Eligwe, who was dismissed from the Florida State football team last November, will continue his collegiate playing career at Georgia Southern.
According to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Eligwe, a former four-star prospect in the class of 2012, was trying to latch on with the Georgia Bulldogs but could not come to an agreement with the school in time.
“It was looking like it might be UGA, because it’s so close to home,” Eligwe’s high school coach Dante Ferguson told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “But summer school started this week at Georgia Southern, and he felt like he needed to make a decision. He felt like he couldn’t wait any longer to see if things were going to work out with UGA.
“He was just so impressed with Georgia Southern. He likes it there, and he didn’t want to miss out on that opportunity if things fell through with UGA.”
Eligwe redshirted his freshman year at FSU and played in 13 games in 2013. The outside linebacker played in two games in 2014 before being dismissed from the team for violating team rules.
