De'Andre Johnson, QB once dismissed from FSU, said he'll visit Alabama

Former Florida State quarterback De'Andre Johnson was dismissed from the program after video emerged of him striking a woman at a bar. Wednesday, he said he looks to visit Alabama.

Johnson, who was dismissed from Florida State in July 2015, was charged with misdemeanor battery. Also in July, Johnson went on ABC's "Good Morning America" to apologize to the woman he struck. Johnson transferred to East Mississippi Community College in the fall, but did not play football.
Wednesday morning, Johnson posted a tweet that might interest some fans of SEC football.

"Can't wait to hit Bama this weekend," said Johnson, in a tweet that's since been deleted but saved via screenshow below. "Can't wait to link up in TTown!"

A digitally designed version of Johnson, wearing an Alabama jersey with the No. 14, accompanied the tweet. The nature of his language ("hit 'Bama") was obviously a bit problematic -- even if it was unintentional.
AL.com, however, reports Johnson is not currently being recruited by Alabama. Instead, he's joining his younger brother Tyreke Johnson on a trip to Tuscaloosa for a junior day visit.
"Johnson, who is currently at East Mississippi Community College, tweeted he'd be joining younger brother Tyreke Johnson and Shaun Wade
Johnson does plan to do that, according to a source, but purely to support his brother and isn't currently being recruited by the Crimson Tide."
In May 2015, however the SEC passed rules that blocked the signing of an athlete who was disciplined for serious misconduct -- defined as sexual assault, domestic violence or other forms of sexual violence. As such, depending on the reading of the rule, Johnson may not be allowed to transfer to a school like Alabama in the SEC.
Johnson, who was named Mr. Football for Florida high school sports during the 2014 season, agreed to a plea deal in Dec. 2015. Orlando Sentinel reported in November that Johnson was being recruited by the University of Florida.
