Christian McCaffrey isn't focused on Barry Sanders' record
With 2,807 all-purpose yards this season, Stanford sophomore running back Christian McCaffrey is within reach of breaking Barry Sanders' single-season all-purpose yards record of 3,250.
McCaffrey and the Cardinal will play at least three more games this season and the sophomore sensation is averaging 255.2 all-purpose yards per game this season. If he keeps this pace up, he will break Sanders' record during next week's Pac-12 title game.
While the record would be a great accomplishment, McCaffrey and his Stanford teammates are focused on beating Notre Dame on Saturday (4:30 p.m. PST, FOX) and winning the Pac-12 title.
"If the [NCAA all-purpose yards record] does happen, great," McCaffrey said, per ESPN. "I'm not focused on that right now. We're just focused on our big game against a great opponent next week."
McCaffrey may not be focused on the record, but Heisman voters likely are. With two more primetime opportunities, the Stanford running back could vault himself into a Heisman favorite with two more spectacular performances.
