Andrew Clements ran for two touchdowns and passed for another as previously winless Central Connecticut State defeated Duquesne 38-31 Saturday in Northeast Conference action.

The Blue Devils (1-5, 1-2) last started 0-6 in 1986, when CCSU finished 0-10. Not this time. Clements, who ran for two short touchdowns in the first half, found Deven Baker on a 34-yard scoring pass in the third quarter to give Central Connecticut State a 24-17 lead it never relinquished.

Clements was an efficient 14-of-22 passing for 188 yards and no interceptions. Yet it was fourth-quarter scoring runs by Nate Pagan and Rob Hollomon of 14 and 29 yards respectively that proved decisive. Hollomon had 164 rushing yards.

For Duquesne (4-2, 2-1), Sean Patterson threw three touchdown passes, two to Sean Brady and one to Ryan Ho, who also rushed for a touchdown. But CCSU ran out the clock on its final possession.
