Incarnate Word was playing its first-ever game of Division I football. It was quite the welcome from Central Arkansas' Bears, who have reached the FCS playoffs the previous two seasons. Blake Veasley scored the game's first two touchdowns - rushing from 11 and 18 yards - three minutes apart. Danzel Williams also scored two TDs for the Bears (1-0), who scored at least twice in every quarter and piled up 523 yards of total offense.
Incarnate Word, a San Antonio school that didn't begin playing football until 2009, scored on Trent Brittain's 38-yard run with four minutes remaining.
