Broyles Award panel picks finalists

Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn and TCU defensive coordinator Dick Bumpas highlight the list of finalists for the Broyles Award as best assistant coach.

Offensive coordinators Paul Chryst of Wisconsin, Dana Holgorsen of Oklahoma State and Greg Roman of Stanford are also finalists.

Under Bumpas, the Horned Frogs have the best defense in the nation, allowing 215 yards per game. Auburn is undefeated and atop the BCS standings in line for a chance at the national title under Malzahn and quarterback Cam Newton.

The award will be presented Dec. 6 in Little Rock. Last year's winner was Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart.
