Boilermakers make yet another QB switch
For the third year in a row, the Purdue Boilermakers have made a change during the season at quarterback.
Austin Appleby was named the started after a strong fall camp in which head coach Darrell Hazell says he did a nice job of not turning the ball over. Now just three weeks into the season a change has been made. David Blough is the new starting quarterback:
"This is not a panic move," Hazell said. "This is a move based on our base philosophy that we're not going to turn the ball over, period. That's what it's based off of. We're not panicking inside our walls.
"What people perceive me as, that doesn't matter. All that matters is what we see and how we respond to do the right thing. Perception on the inside is one thing; perception on the outside is completely different."
Coach Hazell made a good attempt to get out in front of the "panic move" discussion but there is no other way to see this right now. Many view this season as a make or break year for the third year head coach and this will certainly be held against hime as the season moves along.
