Boston College announced on Thursday that it has extended head coach Steve Addazio's contract through the 2020 season.

Addazio has gone 14-11 in two seasons in charge of the Eagles, who are 7-5 and headed to the Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 27 to face Penn State.

"In just two years, Steve Addazio has done an amazing job with our football program," BC athletic director Brad Bates said in a statement. "To lead a team to 14 wins and two consecutive bowl games during what was supposed to be a rebuilding process is a great accomplishment. Beyond winning, he has worked tirelessly to recruit top-notch student-athletes and develop lasting relationships with former players and the entire University community. He is one of the best motivators I've ever been around, and his enthusiasm is infectious. We are very fortunate to have him as our coach."

The Eagles reached their first bowl game since 2010 in Addazio's first year as BC's head coach.

Before arriving in Chestnut Hill, Addazio led Temple to a 13-11 record during the 2011 and 2012 seasons.
