Auburn Football vs. Ole Miss: Q&A With Editor of Ole Hotty Toddy
This is our Q&A with Drew Moak, editor of Ole Hotty Toddy, as we discuss the upcoming Auburn football matchup with Ole Miss this Saturday.
What is the feeling like from the fan base right now after losing two in a row and possibly facing a postseason ban?
There is definitely a feeling of apathy right now around the fan base. Expectations were high coming in with a senior quarterback and they simply haven’t met their goals.
I thought this team would have a minor setback due to losing three first round picks and a lot of key seniors.
As far as the postseason ban, I think a lot of fans would like to see it happen at this point just to get it over with, but I don’t foresee it happening.
There’s no guarantee the NCAA will hand them one as a penalty, and the administration may view it as an unnecessary addition to penalties.
Do you think Hugh Freeze’s job is in jeopardy? Should it be?
As far as on the field performance, no chance. He built up this program and one 6-6 or 5-7 season isn’t going to affect his job status.
That being said, he will have to make some staff changes, particularly on defense, to get back to where the program has been lately.
The only way I don’t see Hugh Freeze at Ole Miss next year is if things went terrible with the NCAA investigation.

How does Ole Miss contain Auburn’s defensive line in this game to give Chad Kelly time to throw the football?
That’s a great question and one the coaching staff probably is searching to answer. The obvious answers to me are establish some kind of run game and use the short passing game to get their really good receivers in space.
What is the biggest mismatch for Ole Miss in this game? Both good and bad?
It’s tough to say there’s a big positive matchup-wise for Ole Miss in this game. If there was one, I would say it has to be the receivers against the Auburn secondary.
However, that is dependent on Kelly having time to throw. I think the obvious disadvantage is the Ole Miss offensive line against the defensive line.
How do you see the game playing out?
I see it going the way most Ole Miss games have gone this year. I see Ole Miss coming out strong and feeling good about themselves.
However, in the second half I see Auburn pounding away and winning by a touchdown to 10 points.
