The Auburn Tigers have added their ninth pledge to their 2016 recruiting class with the commitment of defensive end prospect Daquan Newkirk of Orlando, FL.

Newkirk may be considered by some as a raw prospect, as he is currently unranked by the major recruiting services. Despite not being nationally ranked, Newkirk does have scholarship offers from Alabama, Kentucky, Louisville and Pittsburgh among many others, according to 247 Sports.

The Tigers' latest commit recently talked to Auburn Sports about his commitment and what sold him on the team.

"It was just the coaching staff and the way they conduct themselves around their players and the way they love on one another. It's just a brotherhood around here," Newkirk said. "They're Christ-led. What can I say, they're good people, good quality people."

As far as continuing his recruitment, Newkirk said: "I'm done."

While the defensive end may not be ranked at this time, being an SEC commit will surely earn him some extra attention on the football field. Don't expect Newkirk to stay unranked for long, as Auburn may have found a gem before many others discovered his potential.
