Arkansas St. 47, Memphis 3
Ryan Aplin threw three touchdown passes, Frankie Jackson ran for 101 yards and another score, and Arkansas State rolled to victory in its home opener Saturday, beating Memphis 47-3.
Aplin finished 19 of 21 for 274 yards passing. Josh Jarboe had 162 yards receiving and two touchdowns from Aplin, who also found Dwayne Frampton for a score just before halftime.
Andre Smith took over for Aplin in the second half and hit Derek Lawson for the Red Wolves' (1-1) final touchdown. Bobby Zalud capped the scoring with a career-long 56-yard field goal. Arkansas State piled up 611 yards of total offense.
Memphis (0-2) quarterback Taylor Reed, making his first career start, passed for just 87 yards and was sacked five times. Paulo Henriques kicked a 37-yard field goal for the Tigers' only score. Akeem Davis had a career-high 11 tackles for Memphis.
