Arizona OL Jordan Poland dismissed from team following arrest

Published Jul. 23, 2015 3:34 p.m. ET

Jordan Poland is a 6-foot-7, 343-pounder who figured to play an integral role on Arizona's offensive line, but that no longer will be the case.

Poland, a redshirt freshman, was arrested Wednesday on one count of trafficking in stolen property, according to the Arizona Daily Star.

The former four-star recruit was arrested "because he pawned a microphone that had been reported stolen in a burglary." The Daily Star also reported that "Poland is not believed to have been part of the burglary, but the investigation is still ongoing."

UA's athletic department released a statement to the Daily Star signed by athletic director Greg Byrne and coach Rich Rodriguez:

"The athletics department and the football program were notified earlier today of an issue involving Jordan Poland. As a result, we have decided that Jordan will no longer be a member of our football team. We will continue to cooperate with the authorities on this matter moving forward."
