Arizona must replace entire defensive staff after safeties coach Caponi leaves for WVA

Arizona will have an entirely new defensive coaching staff in 2016. After letting go of Jeff Casteel, Bill Kirelawich and David Lockwood, the last remaining defensive staff member, Matt Caponi, announced he would be joining the West Virginia coaching staff.

Caponi had been Arizona's safeties coach for the past three seasons. He will be reunited at West Virginia with Tony Gibson, the Mountaineers defensive coordinator. The two worked together under Rich Rodriguez at Arizona in 2012.

Rodriguez will be busy over the next several weeks as he tries to hire a defensive staff. To this point, he's only filled one position. Jahmile Addae was promoted to cornerbacks coach after Lockwood was dismissed.
