Amway Coaches Poll: Wisconsin Badgers Fall Out of Top 10 After Loss to Michigan Wolverines
The latest Amway Coaches Poll is out and the Wisconsin Badgers have fallen out of the top 10.
It didn’t take a rocket scientist to know that the Wisconsin Badgers would fall from their No. 8 position in last week’s Amway Coaches Poll after losing to the Michigan Wolverines 14-7 in Ann Arbor Saturday afternoon. The big question was just how far they would fall.
Take a sigh of relief, Badgers fans, it’s not all that bad. Wisconsin fell just five spots down to No. 13 in the latest installment of the Amway Coaches Poll released Sunday afternoon. Michigan moved up one spot to No. 4 after their victory.
Wisconsin held tough with one of the best team’s in the country and had more than a few opportunities to complete the upset. With leader Vince Biegel out of the lineup, Garret Dooley stepped up nicely and T.J. Watt had another extraordinary day on a big stage.
The problem was the offense not being able to garner any momentum whatsoever. After a stellar first start to his career last week at Michigan State, redshirt freshman quarterback Alex Hornibrook struggled against a stout Wolverines defense. The offensive line struggled in pass protection and failed to open up any holes in the running game against Michigan’s front seven. Corey Clement could only muster up 68 yards on the ground, finding very little room to run throughout the day.
Wisconsin has a bye week to work on plenty of things offensively and to make sure the defense still plays at a high level. After the bye the Badgers host the Ohio State Buckeyes, who are coming off a 58-0 thumping of Rutgers and are No. 2 in the Amway Coaches Poll.
