Alabama assistant coach resigns amid cloud of recruiting violations

Bo Davis, who has served two stints on Nick Saban's staffs, resigned Friday as Alabama's D-line coach.

"Bo Davis has submitted his letter of resignation," Saban said."We appreciate all the contributions he made to the program and wish him and his family the very best in the future."

Word is, Davis stepped down in the wake of possible recruiting violations as the Tuscaloosa News reported Thursday.

Davis spent four seasons with the Crimson Tide from 2007-10 before coaching the defensive line at Texas for three seasons (2011-13). Davis began his seventh year on Saban's staff at Alabama after originally joining the Alabama staff in 2007.

How the Tide, which wrapped up spring ball earlier this month, fills the void is unknown at this time. Outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi does have extensive experience having worked as a defensive line coach at Cal and Washington.
