Yussuf's career-high 25 leads LBSU past UCSB, 81-76 (Jan 19, 2017)

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) Temidayo Yussuf scored a career-high 25 points on 10-of-12 shooting, Roschon Prince had his third-consecutive double-double and Long Beach State held on for an 81-76 win over UC Santa Barbara on Thursday night.

Prince finished with 14 points and 10 boards, Evan Payne scored 15 and Noah Blackwell added 11 points with four assists for LBSU (7-14, 2-3 Big West).

Prince hit 4 of 4 free throws and Blackwell made a 3-pointer during a 9-2 run that gave Long Beach State its biggest lead, 47-34, with 28 seconds left in the half and led by 12 with 18 minutes to play. The Gauchos slowly chipped away before Eric Childress scored 11 points during a 17-8 spurt that gave UCSB (3-13, 1-3) a one-point lead with 3:19 left.

Payne answered with a 3 and, after a jumper by Alex Hart made it 74-all with 2:29 remaining, the Gauchos missed five of their last six shots and the 49ers hit 5 of 6 free throws to seal it.

Childress finished with 17 points, Hart had 14 with 10 rebounds and Gabe Vincent scored 16 for UCSB, which has lost three in a row to LBSU and four of its last five overall.
