Youngstown St. 83, Bowling Green 76

Ashen Ward scored 23 points and Youngstown State ended a four-game losing streak by defeating Bowling Green 83-76 on Saturday night.

The Penguins (9-18) erased a three-point, halftime deficit by shooting 56 percent from the field in the second half (14 of 25).

The Falcons (12-15) led 65-62 after a dunk by Torian Oglesby with 10:04 left. But the Penguins charged in front to stay with a 12-0 spurt, during which Ward had five points and DuShawn Brooks had four. That gave Youngstown State a 74-65 lead and helped doom Bowling Green to its third straight loss.

Vytas Sulskis had 17 points and Damian Eargle added 15 for Youngstown State, which had lost nine of 10 before Saturday.

A'uston Calhoun led Bowling Green with 16 points, while Scott Thomas contributed on both ends of the floor with 13 points and 14 rebounds and Jordon Crawford had 13 points and nine assists.
