Greg Mangano scored 35 points and had 22 rebounds, both career highs, as Yale withstood a challenge from Division III opponent St. Joseph's (Long Island) for a 101-86 victory Sunday.

The Bulldogs (10-4) raced to a 29-4 lead in less than 7 minutes against the Golden Eagles (10-2), who had never before played a Division I team.

But led by Chris Jimenez, St. Joseph's made a game of it. Jimenez scored 15 of his 22 points, including four 3-pointers, in a 34-12 St. Joseph's run that cut Yale's lead to 41-38. It was 46-43 Yale at halftime.

Led by Mangano, the Bulldogs quickly reasserted themselves in the second half. The senior center made a layup and a 3-pointer in the opening minute, as Yale built a 67-54 lead with 6:44 gone and never led by fewer than 10 points after that.
