Jamar Diggs had 18 points and Noah Dahlman 17 as Wofford won its first game of the season, defeating USC Upstate 79-61 at the Charleston Classic on Thursday.

The Terriers (1-2) won a school-record 26 games and the Southern Conference title last season. But they lost their first two games at Minnesota and Clemson.

Wofford's experienced lineup made sure the losing streak ended against the Spartans (0-3). The two schools are about four miles apart in Spartanburg, but had not played each other since 1988.

The Terriers were ahead 14-3 by the first timeout and 49-26 at the half. They were up as many as 33 points before coach Mike Young sat most of his starters.
