Williams with 21 points; New Mexico beats Utah State 77-59

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) Tim Williams scored 21 points and New Mexico built a 25-point halftime lead and cruised to a 77-59 victory over Utah State on Saturday.

Williams was 9 of 13 from the floor. Elijah Brown had 18 points with five assists, and Cullen Neal chipped in 12 points and six assists for the Lobos (10-6, 3-0 Mountain West), who won their third-straight game since snapping a four-game losing streak.

Jalen Moore scored 17 points to lead Utah State (9-6, 1-3). Chris Smith added 14 for the Aggies, who scored their fewest points since losing to then No. 6 Duke, 85-52 on Nov. 29.

Neal had a steal and then an assist to Obij Aget for a fast-break dunk to spark a 14-0 run as the Lobos led 31-12, and built a 43-18 halftime lead.

The Aggies shot 24 percent on 7-of-29 shooting from the field in the first half.
