Williams leads South Alabama over Samford 72-70 in 2OT

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) Ken Williams made two free throws with 20 seconds left in the second overtime and scored 19 points and South Alabama held on in a wild finish to edge Samford 72-70 on Friday night.

Matt Rose hit a 3-pointer from the corner for Samford with five seconds left and then South Alabama's Tafari Whittingham missed two free throws with four left. However, Rose's 3 at the buzzer was off the mark.

Williams missed a six-foot runner at the end of the first overtime.

Williams, who scored 16 in the second half, tied the game with a 3 with 23 seconds in left in regulation. Samford's Wyatt Walker missed two free throws with less than a second remaining.

Nick Stover had 14 points and Georgi Boyanov 12 with 10 rebounds for the Jaguars (4-6), who beat the Bulldogs (7-4) for the 14th straight time.

Darius Jones-Gibson had 19 points and Rose 17 for Samford.
