Williams helps Lipscomb beat Santa Clara 65-64 in 2OT

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) Josh Williams made three free throws with less than a second to play to give Lipscomb a 65-64 double-overtime victory over Santa Clara In the season-opener for both teams at the Cable Car Classic on Friday night.

Nathan Moran scored 25 points to lead the Bisons. Williams finished with 13 points, and Eli Pepper scored 7 points with 11 rebounds.

Jared Brownridge scored 27 points, and Matt Hubbard had 14 to lead Santa Clara.

Evan Wardlow tipped in Brownridge's missed layup to give Santa Clara a 64-62 lead with 40 seconds left in the second overtime. Williams was fouled while driving in the lane with 0.7 seconds left, and made both free throws.

The Bisons then forced a turnover on a five-second call on the inbounds. Williams was fouled immediately and made one more free throw with 0.4 seconds left to seal it.
