Western Michigan clips Buffalo, 78-68
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) David Brown scored 17 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out five assists, and swiped four steals to lead Western Michigan to a 78-68 victory over Buffalo on Saturday afternoon.
Austin Richie finished with a team high 20 points on 5 of 8 shooting from the field for the Broncos (10-5, 1-1 Mid-American Conference). Tucker Haymond and Connar Tava each added 12 points.
Western Michigan's defensive effort was stout much of the afternoon, holding the Bulls to 32.1 percent shooting from the field and 4 of 16 from 3-point range.
Justin Moss led Buffalo (10-4, 1-1) with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Shannon Evans added 21 points for the Bulls.
The Broncos opened the game on a 16-4 run, capped off by a Haymond jumper, and took a 37-29 lead at the half. Western Michigan kept Buffalo at arm's length in the second period, building its lead as high as 17.
