Alex Ruoff scored 24 points to lead West Virginia past Notre Dame 79-68 on Wednesday night. West Virginia (18-8, 7-6 Big East) faced an early 10-point deficit as the Fighting Irish (14-11, 5-8) hit seven of their first eight shots to take control in the first five minutes. Ruoff and the Mountaineers rallied to take a 42-40 halftime lead. West Virginia never looked back in the second half, building a lead as large as 17 points with just less than a minute to go. Da'Sean Butler added 19 points and Kevin Jones recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Luke Harangody led Notre Dame with 26 points and 13 rebounds.
