Northern Iowa entered halftime down 13 to top-ranked North Carolina, but went into the break on a high note. Senior guard Wes Washpun's half-court heave hit nothing but the bottom of the net as time expired in the first half.
Washpun would score 12 of his team-high 21 points in the second half as the Panthers pulled off a 71-67 upset of the No. 1 Tar Heels.
