Shorthanded Illinois needed a win after back-to-back losses to Providence and Chattanooga.

In the second half against Chicago State, the Fighting Illini found themselves down 14. But a furious rally set up Jalen Coleman-Lands' game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer, as Illinois pulled out an 82-79 win over the Cougars.

Michael Finke led Illinois with 17 points off the bench. Coleman-Lands was one of three players with 12 points.
