Wallace has 31 in 2nd half, EIU stops Arkansas State in OT

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Josiah Wallace had zero points in the first half but powered in 31 from that point on to lead Eastern Illinois to its third straight win, beating Arkansas State 90-86 in overtime in the Battle in the Blue Ridge on Saturday night.

Wallace, who hit a jumper as regulation ended to tie it 77-77, scored 10 of Eastern Illinois' 13 points in overtime, hitting a 3-pointer to go up 88-84 with 38 seconds remaining. Wallace split a pair of free throws in the last seconds for the final score.

Arkansas State led 32-24 at the break and was up 53-42 midway of the second half.

Wallace nailed 5 of 8 from deep, making 10 of 19 from the floor. Mack Smith added 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Rade Kukobat chipped in 13 points with nine rebounds for Eastern Illinois (3-2).

Ty Cockfield had 24 points for Arkansas State (1-4). Malik Brevard added 13 points with 10 rebounds.
