Walker scores 33 as UCF holds off Tulane 70-62
NEW ORLEANS (AP) Daiquan Walker made 11 of 16 shots, including six 3-pointers, for a career-high 33 points and Central Florida ended a three-game losing streak with a 70-62 win over Tulane on Thursday night.
A.J. Davis added 13 points and eight rebounds for the Knights (11-9, 5-4 American), who led 38-28 at the half as Walker scored 20 points.
A 3-pointer by Matt Williams gave UCF its biggest lead, 33-19, with 5:34 left in the first half. Tulane got within one several times in the second half but Walker came up with several big plays as he scored seven-straight points inside the final six minutes.
Tulane didn't score a basket after Louis Dabney's layup made it 62-58 with 2:54 to play. Staphon Blair had a dunk for the Knights but the Green Wave made four-straight free throws but didn't score in the final 2:09.
Dabney led Tulane (8-16, 1-10) with 18 points.
