Keaton Cole and Harouna Mutombo scored 17 points each and Western Carolina defeated UNC Greensboro 82-77 on Sunday night to reach the Southern Conference finals.

The third-seeded Catamounts shot 46.8 percent (29 of 62) from the field and made 10 of 21 3-pointers (47.6 percent) in their seventh straight win.

Cole was 5 of 8 from long range and Trey Sumler hit two 3-pointers, scoring 16 points for Western Carolina. Preston Ross added 10 points for the Catamounts, who will play for the conference championship on Monday.

Sumler also had eight rebounds for Western Carolina, which won the battle of the boards 36-30.

UNC Greensboro (17-17) was led by Trevis Simpson with 24 points. Derrell Armstrong added 14 points, Drew Parker 11 and David Williams 10 for the Spartans.

UNC Greensboro, the No. 4 seed, trailed 42-37 at halftime and shot 46.7 percent for the game (28 of 60).
