Virginia PG London Perrantes out vs. Ohio State, maybe longer
Virginia could be without starting point guard London Perrantes for the next few games, the school announced on Tuesday evening.
Perrantes will miss the Cavaliers' Big Ten/ACC Challenge game against Ohio State on Tuesday after having an appendectomy over the weekend. His status for Saturday's game against William & Mary is unclear at the moment.
The absence of Perrantes on Tuesday night could put the Cavaliers in position for a second road loss this season, but they'll need him at full strength later this month when Virginia reaches a difficult stretch of its non-conference schedule. The Cavaliers face West Virginia next Wednesday in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden. That neutral site matchup is followed by games against Villanova (Dec. 19) and Cal (Dec. 22).
The junior guard is averaging 10.0 points, 5.3 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game this season.
