Vermont beats Binghamton 61-52

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) Kurt Steidl scored 16 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, to lead Vermont to a 61-52 win over Binghamton on Thursday night.

After falling behind 4-0, Vermont (11-9, 3-2 America East) scored the next 10 points to take the lead for good and carried a 26-18 advantage into the break. The Catamounts broke away again in the second half with another 10-0 run bookended with Steidl's 3-pointers to make it 59-45 with 1:46 left.

Binghamton (3-15, 0-5) responded with two 3s and a free throw from Marlon Beck II to close the gap before Steidl cemented it with a pair of free throws with 16 seconds left.

Drew Urquhart and Dre Wills added eight points apiece for Vermont, which shot 23 for 50 from the field and 8 of 15 from long range.

Beck led Binghamton with 18 points and Willie Rodriguez had 10 points and eight rebounds.
