VCU's Smart wins another coaching award

VCU's Shaka Smart has won the Fritz Pollard male coach of the year award from the Black Coaches and Administrators after leading the Rams to their first Final Four appearance last season.

Penn State women's basketball coach Coquese Washington, who rebuilt the Nittany Lions program, is the winner of the women's coach of the year award.

UCLA athletic director Dan Guerrero is the Myles Brand Award winner as the nation's top administrator. Guerrero has served as the NCAA men's basketball selection committee chairman.

Carmen Jackson, track and field coach at Miami (Fla.) Northwestern, and Ruth Lovelace, boys basketball coach at Boys and Girls High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., are the BCA's top prep coaches.
