Valparaiso 84, Duquesne 68

Kevin Van Wijk scored 22 points and Ryan Broekhoff 21 to pace hot-shooting Valparaiso to its fifth straight victory, an 84-68 decision over Duquesne on Sunday in the 2K Sports Classic.
Jay Harris made 5 of 6 shots, including all three 3-pointers, and added 17 points for the Crusaders (5-1), who converted 28 of 48 shots (58.3 percent). Broekhoff also had game-best totals of 13 rebounds, six assists and five 3-pointers.
Kadeem Pantophlet made every shot he took and scored 14 points to lead the Dukes (3-2), whose three-game winning streak ended. Pantophlet went 5-for-5, including four 3-pointers.
Sean Johnson added 13 points, B.J. Monteiro 11 and Eric Evans 10 for the Dukes.
Valparaiso scored the game's first 10 points, and the only time Duquesne led was when Pantophlet hit a 3-pointer for a 23-22 edge with 7:58 left in the first half.
The Crusaders had a 34-17 rebounding advantage.
