SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Utah Valley has hired Mark Pope to coach its basketball team.

A university spokesman confirmed the move on Monday.

Pope makes the 10-minute move from Provo to Orem after spending four seasons as an assistant to Dave Rose at BYU. The Cougars went 98-43 and made it to three NCAA Tournaments during his time with the program.

Pope replaces Dick Hunsaker, who stepped down after 13 years with the program. The Wolverines went 11-19 in his final season.
