USC Upstate beats N. Kentucky 76-59 on the road

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (AP) Torrey Craig scored 16 points and a major spurt in the first half helped South Carolina Upstate to its first conference road win of the season on Saturday, a 76-59 victory over Northern Kentucky.

USC Upstate (14-11, 7-5 Atlantic Sun Conference) scored 16 straight points during the latter part of the first half to erase a one-point deficit and take a 35-20 lead en route to a 39-27 halftime advantage.

Northern Kentucky (8-17, 4-9) came within 59-51 with 5:16 to play, but USC Upstate responded with a 9-2 run to seal the victory and hand the Norse their fifth straight loss.

Jodd Maxey added 12 points, Mario Blessing scored 11 and Fred Miller had 10 for USC Upstate, which shot 9 of 23 from 3-point range. Craig was 4 of 7 from beyond the arc.

Jordan Jackson led Northern Kentucky with 18 points.
