Chace Stanback scored 17 points to lead UNLV to an 85-41 victory over UC Riverside in the opening game for both teams Friday night.
Anthony Marshall added 16 points and seven assists and Oscar Bellfield had 15 points for the Rebels.
The Highlanders were victimized by a 7:44 scoreless run, failing to score in the final 4:55 of the first half and the first 2:49 of the second. The Rebels outscored them 17-0 during that span and increased their 33-19 lead to 50-19. Stanback and Quintrell Thomas each scored six points during the 17-0 run.
UNLV took a 42-19 first-half lead behind Stanback's 11 points and Bellfield and Marshall with 10 each. Derrick Jasper had 10 of his game-high 13 rebounds in the first half.
UC Riverside was led by Daymond Cowlah with eight points.
