UNC Greensboro slips past East Tennessee State 80-79

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) Tevon Saddler, who finished with 24 points, split a pair of free throws with two seconds left to assure UNC Greensboro of an 80-79 Southern Conference victory over East Tennessee State on Saturday.

UNC Greensboro (4-6, 1-0) led throughout most of the game but Rashawn Rembert gave ETSU a 70-67 lead with 7:29 left. Saddler answered with a three-point play and a jumper to take a 72-70 lead and the Spartans never trailed again.

Jalen Riley hit a 3-pointer to close to 79-76 with six seconds left, but Saddler's free throw sealed the win. ETSU's Rembert nailed a 3 as time expired.

All five starters scored in double figures for the Spartans as they made 26 of 52 from the floor while limiting ETSU (5-2, 1-1) to 23-of-62 shooting (37.1 percent).

Riley led the Buccaneers with 28 points, A.J. Merriweather and Rembert chipped in 13 apiece.
